The sweet story that is Maple Story is no more. I happened to make it through one play session and then never touch the game again. Ever.
Positives:
Amazing graphics/ fun art design.
Low system requirements.
Free-to-play.
Negatives:
No compelling storyline to draw the player in.
Poor/ non-intuitive control scheme.
The thought of having to play this game compelled me to renew my World of Warcraft account. I started a new character, Orup (Tauren Hunter), on the Stormscale server. Now at level 7, I am trucking along through Horde territory. Hit me up if you want to play!

The Kotaku post seems clear in its attempt at humor (inadvertently mocking Christianity in the process). Nothing new for the Internet. However, I think that there is depth and truth to this video. Let’s discuss!

Exegesis – critical explanation or interpretation of a text or portion of a text, esp. of the Bible.
Vs.
Eisegesis – an interpretation, esp. of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter’s own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text.
The preacher/ pastor is preaching based upon his own bias versus actually using scripture to back his claims. Watching this video reminds me of the Christian hysteria over Harry Potter being Satanically inspired. This essentially becomes a conversation over fantasy versus reality. In the case of Harry Potter, examination of the author’s worldview proved that the author had no underlying motives (she wasn’t a Wiccan in disguise) and was instead writing a work of fantasy based fiction.
2. Good points are made on gaming leading to desensitizing kids/ adults. Although, the type of desensitization the pastor uses as an example is a bit extreme.
3. What you take in (your intake) does affect you mentally/ spiritually.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Namco’sPole Position (link will open iTunes) has been remixed for the iDevice in your life. Race along thrilling non-banked tracks in an attempt to win first place. Beware though, hitting another car will cause your car to explode in old school glory.
Pole Position is one of those games that I would have preferred stayed in the nostalgic past. Shiny new graphics, dated gameplay, and lack of an innovative slant/ new features makes this app seem like a cash-in for Namco. Hurray for them. Judgment aside, bringing back retro games is a great idea as long as the original game is worth revisiting and reinvigorating.

Vay (link will open iTunes) is a roleplaying game (RPG) originally created by Working Designs for the Sega-CD. One of the first RPG’s on the iPhone/ iPod Touch, Vay provides a perfect dose of story and gameplay for those on the go.
The game opens with a wedding day destroyed, a royal family slaughtered, and a princess taken hostage. In other words, enough emotional material to put Batman’s quest for justice to shame. After witnessing the above events, Prince Heibelger sets forth to avenge his family and take back his princess.
Ideology: Monarchy
With his father dead, Prince Heibelger stands to ascend the throne of Lorath. What are his political views? Will the prince continue the monarchy or abolish it in favor of a more democratic type of rule? Sadly, Vay never delves into such issues.
Worldview: Monotheism
Most Japanese RPG’s are built around cultural polytheism. Vay, oddly, goes against this trend and references one God. One can only wonder if this was a translation issue (Japanese to English) or a decision made by the developer?
Gameplay:
The lack of a traditional d-pad and the use of the touch screen for movement can make control a bit inaccurate at times. Otherwise, the battle system (the core of any RPG) is quick and engaging.
In the End:
I have enjoyed the time I have spent with Vay. The linear story, catchy music, humor, and retro design combine to create an experience that is not to be missed. Priced at $4.99, the world of Vay awaits you at the Apple App Store.
