Notice how distracted Haman is with Mordecai. Instead of focusing on what he had been given, Haman became preoccupied with a single man. This preoccupation with Mordecai and the annihilation of the Jews would eventually lead to Haman’s downfall.

What is your life?
The future is a blank canvas that we like to scribble all over. Ideas fueled by our imaginations, egos, and sometimes even greed paint glorious indecipherable doodles that don’t always line up with God’s will. We say to ourselves, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. (James 4:13b)” Notice though, that in doing so, we have failed to bring God in on our future plans.
Capable of Much: The Tongue
This morning my wife and I read James 3 in preparation for our Wednesday night Bible study. The first part of it really stuck out to me:
Isolation
The Christian life is one that is often lived out in unintentional isolation. We go to church, mid-week Bible study, and hopefully connect with fellow Christians. From that, we create our own little Christian bubbles filled with like-minded individuals. Now I think that it is great to attend church, Bible study, and get to know other believers. However, I think that we are isolating ourselves from those that we have been called to reach out to, those outside the church.
