I grew up in the glow of the 1980s, where the Nintendo Entertainment System was a fixture in my parents’ home. Long afternoons were spent adventuring with Mario, Donkey Kong, and Link—unaware that I was immersing myself in a groundbreaking new medium: video games. They weren’t just entertainment; they were stories, challenges, and connections.

Years later, I found myself reflecting not just on the games, but on the culture surrounding them. In a world quick to polarize, I didn’t want to fight a culture war—I wanted to offer something constructive. That’s how JohnnyBGamer (JBG) was born: not as a battleground, but as a place of thoughtful engagement and encouragement.

As 1 Corinthians 10:23 reminds us:

“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial.
“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive.

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. JBG exists in that tension. It’s a space to explore gaming, faith, and life with discernment—asking not just what we’re free to do, but what builds us up and benefits those around us.

I write with a mix of heart, humor, and honesty—sometimes playful, sometimes reflective, always aiming for clarity and connection. Whether you’re a lifelong gamer, a curious parent, or someone navigating faith in a digital age, this space is for you. My hope is to foster a community that values thoughtful dialogue, shared stories, and the kind of encouragement that helps us all level up in life.
